Intel harnesses open source expertise to promote collaboration across its vast internal development community with GitHub Enterprise

Intel, a global technology leader with nearly 100,000 repositories, needed to break down silos across its distributed engineering teams and improve collaboration, code reuse, and security at scale. To support this shift, Intel worked with GitHub Enterprise as part of its 1Source initiative to move source code from multiple locations onto a single platform.

GitHub helped Intel establish an innersource culture with centralized governance, standardized repository naming, and better developer access across four GitHub organizations. With GitHub Advanced Security, Dependabot, secret scanning, and push protection, Intel improved security and caught issues earlier in the development flow; the company also used GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners to support automation and future CI/CD improvements. As a result, Intel says it has been able to scale collaboration and security quickly across its global engineering organization with GitHub.
