Etsy migrated to the cloud to focus their craft on customers, not infrastructure

Etsy, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods, needed to shift its engineering focus away from managing infrastructure and toward improving customer experience. The company had long used GitHub Enterprise Server, but as it moved to the cloud it also wanted to modernize developer tools and reduce the burden of self-hosted systems.

With help from GitHub Professional Services, Etsy migrated repositories from GitHub Enterprise Server to GitHub Enterprise Cloud and centralized more of its CI/CD and collaboration workflows around GitHub. GitHub helped Etsy simplify its process, increase automation, and speed up releases—supporting more than 50 production deployments per day, adding up to 10 checks on each commit, and reducing the time needed to get app updates ready for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
