Case Study: ENGIE Digital achieves scalable innersourcing and stronger collaboration with GitHub

ENGIE Digital, part of global energy company ENGIE, wanted to shift from siloed development to an internal “innersource” model that would let teams share code, reuse work, and collaborate more effectively across 70 countries. To support this cultural and technical change, they turned to GitHub and GitHub Pages as part of their development stack.

GitHub helped ENGIE Digital establish GitHub repositories for projects, automate documentation publishing, and standardize tooling across business units. With GitHub, innersourcing became the default for new projects, teams were able to lower costs and increase flexibility, and most of ENGIE’s hundreds of developers now use the platform. ENGIE Digital also reported better collaboration, more secure and reliable software, and easier recruitment because developers already know GitHub.
