Datadog, a cloud monitoring and security company, needed to strengthen security across its fast-moving developer workflows without adding friction or slowing engineers down. Using GitHub, including GitHub Advanced Security, Datadog aimed to embed security into everyday development while managing sensitive data and compliance requirements across its multi-cloud environment.

GitHub helped Datadog shift left on security with tools like GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Actions, and CodeQL, enabling automated scanning, approvals for high-risk “red zone” changes, and fewer false positives than other tools they evaluated. GitHub Secret Scanning also helped Datadog identify over 250 leaked API keys in Q2 2021, allowing the company to notify affected customers and improve trust while keeping productivity high.
