Cognizant uses GitHub for modernizing Engineering processes

Cognizant, a large enterprise IT services company, needed to modernize its pre-cloud engineering processes to better support a mobile-first, cloud-first strategy across hundreds of applications and thousands of components. To do this, Cognizant evaluated GitHub and Azure DevOps, looking for stronger disaster recovery, agile development support, better collaboration, and improved traceability for its developers.

GitHub implemented a phased migration and automated setup for around 200 applications, including repository creation, access provisioning, and branching rules. The result was cleaner workflows, better code review, improved team productivity, and stronger visibility into code changes through integration with Azure DevOps. GitHub also helped developers collaborate remotely during COVID, supporting hundreds of developers with faster, more organized development processes and better morale.
