A GitHub Case Study

Autodesk leverages GitHub to drive a culture of collaboration

Autodesk, a global leader in design and make software, needed a more agile way to modernize internal tools, streamline engineering workflows, and improve collaboration as its 5,000 engineers moved from desktop to cloud development. Before GitHub, most engineers could only access their own repository, making code sharing and cross-team collaboration difficult.

Autodesk implemented GitHub, including GitHub Enterprise Server and GitHub Actions, to centralize source code, open up repository access, and automate testing and release workflows. With GitHub, all 5,000 engineers now develop and store code in one place, nearly all of Autodesk’s 19,000 repositories are open internally, and teams report major gains in communication, openness, security, and efficiency.
