A GitHub Case Study
Ahold Delhaize, the international food retailer behind brands like Giant, Stop&Shop, Gall&Gall, and Albert Heijn, needed to modernize its fragmented development environment. Its engineers were using a mix of legacy tools and inconsistent workflows, with code scattered across multiple Bitbucket repositories, laptops, and outdated systems, making collaboration, reuse, and scaling difficult. The company turned to GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions to create a more unified platform for development.
GitHub helped Ahold Delhaize automate repetitive tasks, centralize packages with GitHub Packages, and scale CI/CD with hosted runners in GitHub Actions. The result was faster delivery, improved reliability and velocity, and full automation from pull request to QA, deployment, and production. GitHub also reduced maintenance overhead and helped the team build an inner source culture, with the company already creating eight Actions and expanding internal collaboration.
