Densho publishes a 225-haiku book with Girvin

Densho, a nonprofit organization, worked with the branding and design firm Girvin on a challenge presented by their founder, Scott Oki. Oki, a long-time client, had a large volume of self-composed haiku poems he used for meditation and wanted to find a way to share his art to help others.

Girvin's solution was to design and produce a large tabletop book featuring 225 of Oki's haiku. Each poem was presented with custom calligraphy and a Japanese translation. The resulting book was created to benefit Densho, which documents the testimonies of Japanese Americans unjustly incarcerated during WWII. The vendor, Girvin, successfully delivered a product that met the client's goals and began receiving positive accolades.
