Aberdeen refreshes its landmark sign for 16,000 daily drivers with Girvin

The city of Aberdeen faced the challenge of updating the weathered "Welcome to Aberdeen" sign on the busy Wishkah River bridge, seeking to refresh a local landmark while honoring the town's history. They engaged the strategic branding and design firm Girvin for this project.

Girvin's solution was a new bridge-shaped sign that blended heritage with a modern attitude. The design retained the original purple and yellow color scheme but replaced the old tagline with icons representing Aberdeen's key industries, indigenous culture, maritime history, and musical legacy as a destination itself. The vendor's design was selected by the city council and now serves as a refreshed gateway for roughly 16,000 daily passersby.
