Tyson Foods Retires ECM platform and Cut Costs with Gimmal Document Management for SAP

Tyson Foods, one of the world’s largest multinational food producers, was struggling with an unsupported Documentum ECM that was costly to maintain, hard to migrate, and couldn’t deliver SAP content into a collaborative platform. To retire Documentum, cut storage/license/maintenance costs, and enable enterprise access to SAP documents, Tyson Foods engaged Gimmal and its Gimmal Document Management for SAP solution.

Gimmal migrated legacy Documentum content into SharePoint and implemented Gimmal Document Management for SAP to provide bidirectional access between SAP and SharePoint so invoices and other SAP content could be stored and accessed in SharePoint. As a result, Tyson Foods retired Documentum, reduced ECM costs by 60–70%, cut support from two full-time staff to one part‑time role, shortened image‑management development from four months to one, and improved productivity, collaboration, and content accessibility.
