Spun-off Company Achieves Quick Success with Gimmal and SharePoint

Fuel and Convenience Retailing Company, the second-largest publicly traded fuel and convenience retailer in North America with over 12,000 employees and 1,900 retail outlets, spun off from its parent and had to build a new IT infrastructure from scratch. Facing costly, outdated ECM and AP platforms (FileNet and OpenText VIM), the company needed to support HR across thousands of stores, reduce maintenance and integration costs, and ensure regulatory compliance — so they engaged Gimmal for a rapid, governable content strategy.

Gimmal implemented a SharePoint-based platform using Gimmal Records to govern site creation, lifecycle and retention, and Gimmal Link to integrate SAP AP documents (purchase orders, invoices and supporting docs) with SharePoint. This replaced FileNet and the OpenText SAP integration with a lower-cost, higher-functionality solution, reduced maintenance overhead, improved AP performance, consolidated employee, capital and vendor records into a compliant records center, and lowered training costs while speeding deployment and reducing legal and regulatory risk.
