How Tslac Elevated Records Management Efficiency With Gimmal Physical

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) faced the challenge of modernizing management for an enormous physical records inventory—390,000 boxes, 255,500 microfilm reels and 1.7 million microfiche sheets—while supporting more than 80 state and local agencies and replacing legacy tracking systems. To address these pressures, TSLAC selected Gimmal and implemented the Gimmal Physical records management solution.

Gimmal Physical established a system of record that automated inventory control, billing and retention workflows, and enabled consistent procedures across facilities. As a result, TSLAC now manages space across two warehouse facilities for 80+ agencies, maintains over 150 retention schedules, streams billing for thousands of end users, realized operational cost savings, and expanded digitization and Scan‑on‑Demand services—demonstrating clear efficiency and service improvements delivered by Gimmal.
