Spotter wanted to automate student attendance based on where students were on campus, replacing manual tracking with a more accurate way to identify class attendance, tardies, early exits, and absences. To support this challenge, Gimbal provided location technology that could pinpoint students to specific classrooms, something GPS cannot do reliably indoors.

Gimbal implemented its SDK in the Spotter app and deployed beacons around school campus “class zones” so entry and exit events could be sent to the Spotter platform in real time. The solution improved attendance visibility, helped support retention and staff productivity, and addressed privacy concerns by only detecting students when they were near a beacon during class time.
