Bank Leumi - Customer Case Study

Bank Leumi, Israel’s oldest retail bank with 10,000 employees and 200 branches, faced a rapidly changing competitive landscape driven by new regulations (credit-card spin-offs, Open Banking) and fast-moving fintech and digital banks. To maintain market position the bank prioritized faster time-to-market for digital services, a single customer view (Customer 360), better onboarding and NPS, and reduced legacy IT costs — concluding it needed an operational data store (ODS) to decouple digital channels from core systems.

After an RFI/POC process, Bank Leumi selected GigaSpaces Smart DIH for its superior performance (20x transactions/sec vs. SAP HANA in the POC), faster development, out‑of‑the‑box DB2 CDC integration and strong vendor commitment. The hybrid on‑prem/cloud DIH with active‑active replication and CDC ingestion was integrated into the bank’s DevOps, security and data ecosystem; the platform went live in Q1 2022 and is expected to become the core platform for the bank’s new digital apps within the first year, accelerating innovation while lowering TCO and enabling Customer 360 capabilities.
