Wireless Provider Uses Gigamon to Scale for VoWiFi/VoLTE Traffic,Future-proofing Existing Voice Quality Assurance Tool Rail

A US wireless provider with more than 50 million subscribers needed to reassess its network visibility during a media gateway (MGW) upgrade that added hundreds of 1Gb ports. The expansion risked overwhelming the existing Gigamon Visibility Fabric and raised requirements for greater port density, scalability and advanced capabilities (packet de‑duplication, unsampled NetFlow) to maintain voice quality assurance for VoWiFi/VoLTE services.

The provider expanded its Visibility Fabric with Gigamon’s GigaVUE‑HC2 and GigaSMART features, tapping 10Gb northbound router ports and using integrated TAPs to reduce required TAP ports to less than one‑tenth. The solution delivered 1Tb throughput and up to 96×10Gb in two rack units, enabled adaptive filtering and de‑duplication, consolidated management under a single pane of glass, and produced CAPEX/OPEX savings while future‑proofing monitoring for new voice services.
