A Gigamon Case Study
An R&D organization supporting U.S. government and national security programs—managing more than 900 VLANs, 5,000 users and 27,000 wired devices—needed full network traffic visibility to protect sensitive data and ensure performance and availability. The team could only see outbound traffic and lacked the ability to inspect inbound flows, isolate sessions or quickly diagnose latency and security issues across its distributed environment.
The organization deployed a Gigamon Visibility Fabric—more than 20 GigaVUE fabric nodes with GigaVUE-TA1 aggregators, GigaTAPs and GigaStream session-aware load balancing—to TAP traffic everywhere, centralize tools and maintain session integrity. The result was on-demand, end-to-end visibility for packet- and flow-level analysis, faster troubleshooting, reduced tool count and management overhead, and improved security and performance monitoring without impacting the production network.
