IntercontinentalExchange (ICE), a global operator of regulated exchanges and trading platforms, faced a scaling monitoring problem: multiple 10Gbps and 1Gbps TAPs on external links with no centralized, cost‑effective way to access and monitor secure mission‑critical traffic. Purchasing an appliance per tapped link was unsustainable, and ICE needed to aggregate, filter, replicate and distribute mixed‑speed traffic at full line‑rate while protecting investments in legacy 1Gbps tools.

ICE deployed Gigamon’s GigaVUE-2404 Traffic Visibility Node to consolidate TAP management, apply IP‑based input/output filters, and route traffic to the appropriate monitoring tools. The low‑latency solution allowed legacy 1Gbps tools to capture only relevant 10Gbps traffic, improving tool efficiency, centralizing control, providing secure access and full visibility, and delivering quick ROI while containing costs as the network grew.
