Major Water Utility Applies Joint Solution to Achieve Pervasive Visibility and Monitoring Across IT and OT Networks

A major water utility serving residential, business, and municipal customers across the Northeast needed better, noninvasive visibility into its separated IT and OT environments. The team struggled with manual port monitoring, SPAN ports that could drop traffic during peak loads, and limited ability to feed comprehensive data into their security tools—all while keeping OT operations untouched and without expanding headcount.

The utility deployed Armis alongside four Gigamon GigaVUE H and TA appliances to aggregate and passively forward traffic into their security platform. The joint solution delivered pervasive OT/IT visibility (monitoring up to eight ports per device without packet loss), improved IT–OT collaboration, asset discovery and vulnerability correlation, and strong vendor support so the existing team could fully leverage the tools.
