A Gigamon Case Study
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a not-for-profit acute community healthcare provider serving about 800,000 people across five hospitals and multiple community sites. Facing a sprawling hybrid environment—thousands of endpoints, numerous IoT and medical devices, ~150 wiring closets and SD‑WANs—the Trust needed to boost its cybersecurity posture, gain comprehensive IoT visibility, consolidate SPAN sessions, and demonstrate compliance with the U.K. NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF).
With support from Core to Cloud, the Trust deployed Gigamon GigaVUE-HC1 and GigaVUE-FM to consolidate traffic, terminate unlimited SPANs and provide single-pane visibility while feeding enriched telemetry into tools like Cylera, Forescout and Armis. The solution improved asset discovery and risk assessment, streamlined CAF compliance, strengthened protection of patient data, enabled faster, prioritized remediation and established a repeatable template for other NHS hospitals.
