A Gigamon Case Study
The Department of Defense discovered in 2018 that its Zero Trust initiative lacked the network visibility needed to protect critical data—assessments showed blind spots across physical, virtual and cloud environments, leaving the agency vulnerable to lateral movement and privilege escalation. Without a global picture of traffic, tests failed to trigger alerts and the team could not respond in real time.
Gigamon’s Deep Observability Pipeline (GigaVUE-FM, V/HC/TA Series, GigaSMART, GigaVUE OS and packet de-duplication) was introduced to collect, process and deliver tailored traffic to security and monitoring tools. The deployment brought full visibility across on‑prem, virtual and cloud networks, enabled deep packet inspection, reduced noise and duplicate data, improved tool efficiency and root-cause analysis, and supported a more effective Zero Trust architecture now being extended into cloud platforms.
