Riverside County Adopts Zero Trust Model, Delivering Secure Services to Millions

Riverside County, a large California government agency serving nearly 2.5 million residents with 25,000 employees and 500 facilities, needed to strengthen its security posture amid rising vendor risk and a push to implement Zero Trust. The county’s lean security team saw only about 20% of lateral East–West traffic, lacked integration between visibility and detection tools, and required the ability to upgrade or reconfigure systems remotely without interrupting critical services.

Riverside deployed Gigamon GigaVUE-FM fabric manager and GigaVUE HC appliances to deliver complete network visibility, feed relevant traffic to security tools, and use an inline bypass to reconfigure systems with zero downtime. The solution reduced mean time to remediation, increased tool efficiency, saved staff time, supported progress toward Zero Trust (with planned Precryption for cloud visibility), and delivered ROI in under 12 months while giving the county continuous uptime and greater confidence in its defenses.
