A GigaIO Case Study
Xilinx needed a way to make AI data center workloads more flexible without sacrificing accelerator performance. Using a 1U server with a Xilinx Alveo U250 FPGA card, the company compared a traditional converged setup against a more scalable composed architecture from GigaIO.
GigaIO’s FabreX rack-scale composable infrastructure connected the server to an Accelerator Pooling Appliance over a native PCIe network fabric, allowing the FPGA to be dynamically shared while maintaining PCIe-level performance. In benchmarking with GoogLeNet V1, the composed configuration reached 4,235 images/sec versus 4,127 images/sec for the internal PCIe setup, showing essentially identical performance with added flexibility and improved resource utilization.
