A GigaIO Case Study
FluidX3D, the CFD software developed by Dr. Moritz Lehmann, needed a way to solve extreme-scale fluid dynamics problems that conventional tools struggle to handle. Its challenge was running highly detailed simulations with massive memory and compute requirements, including complex geometries and large transient datasets.
GigaIO addressed this with its SuperNODE system, a turnkey platform that supports up to 32 GPUs and terabytes of directly accessible VRAM over its FabreX PCIe fabric. Using GigaIO SuperNODE, FluidX3D completed a 40-billion-cell Concorde landing simulation in 33 hours on 32 AMD Instinct MI210 accelerators, with the case study reporting 100-200x faster performance than commercial finite volume solvers on similar hardware and enabling in-situ rendering of huge simulation data.
