A Giatec Case Study
U.S. Concrete was tasked by Pacific Structures with supplying concrete for a high-rise in San Francisco, a project that required continuous temperature monitoring of a large crane pad to prevent thermal cracking. The challenge was to ensure the concrete did not exceed 160°F and to report this data for 72 hours. To meet this need, U.S. Concrete utilized Giatec's SmartRock wireless sensors.
Giatec's SmartRock sensors provided real-time temperature and strength data via Bluetooth, allowing the project team to confirm they stayed within the required temperature thresholds and avoid cracking. Furthermore, by using the sensors to apply the maturity method (ASTM C1074), U.S. Concrete could accurately determine the in-place concrete strength, which helped accelerate the project timeline for crane erection. The implementation of Giatec's technology provided critical data, reduced costs, and prevented potential delays for the customer.
