PCL Construction - Customer Case Study

PCL Construction, one of the largest contracting organizations in North America, faced the challenge of optimizing its concrete testing process to accelerate the schedule on the massive Stantec Tower project. The goal was to validate if Giatec's product could reliably determine the right time to strip formwork, which would allow for significant time and cost savings on the subsequent construction of the 66-story tower.

Giatec's SmartRock wireless concrete sensors were implemented to replace traditional field-cured break tests. The solution provided accurate, real-time strength data using the maturity method. This allowed PCL to confidently strip forms a half-day earlier per floor cycle on the parkade and achieve a consistent 4-day schedule for the tower floors above ground. As a result of using Giatec's technology, PCL completed the entire project an remarkable four months ahead of schedule while also reducing formwork costs.
