A Giatec Case Study
The FCC Group, a leading international company in infrastructure services, faced significant delays and inefficiencies in their tunneling project for the NEOM development. The consortium, including FCC Construction, relied on traditional lab-cured samples to monitor concrete strength, which hindered timely decision-making. They turned to Giatec and implemented its SmartRock wireless concrete sensors to gain real-time insights into the curing process.
By using Giatec's SmartRock sensors, the project team could accurately monitor concrete temperature, maturity, and compressive strength in real time from the onset of curing. This solution provided the data needed to optimize the formwork removal process, significantly shortening work timelines and improving resource utilization. The real-time data also revealed that the concrete was gaining strength faster than lab samples indicated, allowing the consortium to work more efficiently and achieve substantial cost savings.
