Transforming Materials Management at Cambridge University Hospitals

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrookes) needed better visibility and traceability for purchase orders, plus a faster, more accurate way to manage ward inventory. Its existing fax/email and stock top-up processes were time-consuming, hard to track, and pulled clinical staff away from patient care, so the Trust turned to GHX and its GHX Exchange and GHX PowerGate solutions.

GHX implemented GHX Exchange to track orders end to end and GHX PowerGate for dual-bin inventory management and ward top-up control. The results included rollout to about 25% of wards in phase one, around 1,400 purchase orders a month through GHX Exchange, up to a 50% reduction in ward stock, up to a 75% reduction in top-up time, and significant time savings that helped return clinical staff time to patient care.
