Piedmont Healthcare, a not-for-profit health system in Georgia, faced challenges with inaccurate and incomplete item master data, which undermined trust in clinical decision-making and hampered sourcing efforts. To establish a foundation of data integrity, Piedmont’s supply chain leadership engaged vendor GHX to implement a master data management governance strategy, utilizing the GHX NuVia data management solution.

GHX worked with Piedmont to cleanse and enrich its item master data, normalize product descriptions, and align contract pricing with distributors. This collaboration, which also included their GPO, resulted in dramatic improvements, including a 70% reduction in contract price exceptions and an 81% reduction in overall price exceptions. The accurate data fostered new trust between clinical and supply chain teams and directly supported the health system's value analysis program.
