A midwestern university medical center faced significant inefficiency in its supply chain order management process, particularly with suppliers not connected to the GHX Exchange. This resulted in manual work, a lack of order confirmation visibility, and the risk of delayed supplies impacting patient care. They engaged vendor GHX and its Order Trust service to address the challenge of receiving purchase order acknowledgments (POAs) via fax and email.

GHX implemented a solution to standardize and automate the order process for all suppliers. This included converting orders, educating suppliers, and managing POAs through a central dashboard. The results were highly successful: 99% of POAs are now received electronically, the equivalent of one full-time employee was reallocated to strategic work, and there was a drastic reduction in unconfirmed orders. This provided greater visibility, ensured timely product delivery for patient care, and increased the number of perfect orders.
