Effective Catalogue Management: Bristol & Weston Purchasing Consortium in Partnership with GHX

Bristol & Weston NHS Purchasing Consortium (BWPC) relied heavily on GHX Nexus repository catalogues to populate and verify customer catalogues, but after a system upgrade many items were no longer being recognised as already available in supplier catalogues. Keeping product data current had become manual and time-consuming, prompting BWPC to raise the issue with GHX.

GHX implemented Assisted Supplier Management to engage suppliers, request product updates, and provide training on Nexus functionality. GHX contacted 87 suppliers, ran 10 training sessions, and helped 41 suppliers update catalogues or confirm obsolete items were removed and replaced with alternatives; numerous supplier records also moved from “Poor” to “Good Health,” significantly reducing BWPC’s workload and allowing the team to focus on higher-value tasks.
