NSW Health makes HIV self-testing more accessible with GHO Sydney, reaching 1,973 registrations in 10 months

NSW Health's STI Policy Unit faced the challenge of making HIV testing more accessible for individuals who find it a delicate topic and are unable to visit doctors or talk about their status openly. They partnered with vendor GHO Sydney to create a brand, website, and supporting marketing material for a new initiative called MyTest.

GHO Sydney designed an inclusive and accessible brand and digital experience for MyTest, including a website compliant with ADA and WCAG AA standards. The solution involved distributing free self-test kits via vending machines, offering a private and stigma-free testing option. This initiative resulted in 1,973 registrations and 2,036 tests dispensed in its first 10 months, with 46% of users being first-time testers.
