a private-equity firm cuts CI/CD infrastructure costs by 87.6% with GFT

A private-equity firm was facing costly inefficiencies and scalability issues with its CI/CD system running on Amazon Web Services. Its platform, which utilized over 180 on-demand EC2 instances, was overprovisioned and lacked scalability, presenting a significant operational challenge. The firm engaged GFT to streamline its architecture and reduce costs.

GFT designed and implemented a new, cost-effective architecture using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters and spot instances. This solution centralized resources, implemented secure multitenant access, and migrated CI/CD functions to GitLab Runner with autoscaling. As a result, GFT helped the client achieve an 87.6% reduction in annual infrastructure costs and reduced its EC2 instances from 180 to just 18.
