Yachtcomputing used GFI Software’s Kerio Control to address the challenge of managing limited internet bandwidth aboard a luxury yacht, where land-based apps and usage patterns could quickly overwhelm available connectivity. The captain needed better visibility into who was using bandwidth, plus a way to prioritize access for the owner and guests while reducing inappropriate internet use by crew.

GFI Software implemented Kerio Control with traffic statistics, quality of service, bandwidth management, web filtering, and VPN access so the captain could monitor usage, prioritize critical traffic, and manage the network more effectively. The result was faster browsing, downloading, and streaming for the yacht’s owner and guests, improved control over onboard internet use, and the ability for Yachtcomputing to administer the system remotely from shore.
