Southeast VA Medical Center reduces HAIs by 53% with GetWellNetwork

The Southeast VA Medical Center, a healthcare system comprising two hospitals, faced the challenge of reducing hospital-acired infections (HAIs) by improving hand hygiene practices for both clinicians and patients. To address this, they partnered with vendor GetWellNetwork and implemented its Get Well Inpatient solution.

GetWellNetwork's solution involved using the in-room TV platform to prompt patients twice daily to report on their clinicians' hand hygiene and to view educational videos. This approach significantly increased patient awareness and engagement. As a result, the medical centers achieved an average 53% reduction in HAIs across both facilities, with one location seeing a 63% decrease and the other a 43% decrease.
