A Getronics Case Study
King’s College London needed to replace a complex, aging IT infrastructure that was becoming increasingly difficult and costly to support. The university turned to Getronics, using its Global Desktop workspace service with desktop virtualization and thin client technology to simplify how applications and services were delivered across its campuses.
Getronics implemented a virtualized environment that reduced operating costs, improved service, streamlined processes, and increased mobility. The solution created what is believed to be the UK higher education sector’s first private cloud delivered over the JANET network, giving students and staff anywhere access to core and specialist applications, stronger security, better backup management, and improved business continuity.
