A GetResponse Case Study
JustProto is a real-time online mockup and collaboration tool (launched in 2009) that relies on a 15‑day free trial to drive upgrades. Their challenge was retention: many trial users never learned how to use the product and churned before converting, so the goal was to educate and nudge trial users to become paying customers.
GetResponse built an automated email follow‑up program—seven emails every other day during the trial plus two post‑trial “rescue” messages—focused on education, customer case studies, upgrade CTAs, discounts and feedback. After ~1,500 sends the campaign averaged a 23.26% open rate and 2.07% click rate, delivered higher conversions and retention, reduced support workload, and produced almost no unsubscribes.
