San Francisco-Marin Food Bank needed a faster, more flexible way to recruit and manage volunteers as community demand surged during the COVID-19 outbreak. After launching a new volunteer site, the food bank had to quickly communicate changing program needs across multiple locations while moving from a traditional distribution model to pop-up pantries and other new services.
Using Get Connected by Galaxy Digital’s volunteer management software, San Francisco-Marin Food Bank simplified volunteer sign-up, automated scheduling and communications, and scaled operations across 25 volunteer locations and six new programs. With Get Connected, the food bank recruited 50,000 volunteers in two years and logged 146,000 volunteer hours in 2022, while also improving the volunteer experience and enabling faster expansion without overburdening staff.
