Save the Bay is an independent, member-supported Rhode Island nonprofit that protects and improves Narragansett Bay through advocacy, education, and habitat restoration. Facing the challenge of recruiting and scheduling thousands of volunteers—especially for the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC)—and finding Google Forms/123ContactForm insufficient, Save the Bay needed a tool to improve the volunteer experience, reduce administrative time, and grow participation. They turned to Get Connected by Galaxy Digital (volunteer management software).
Get Connected by Galaxy Digital delivered a user-friendly platform with custom ICC pages, opportunity filters, team sign-up, automated notifications, and centralized data storage. The result: easier sign-ups, dramatically reduced administrative effort, and a surge in participation—ICC volunteers more than doubled (2,500 volunteers at 150 sites in 2017), helping Save the Bay manage thousands of individual and corporate volunteers, support roughly 4,000 volunteer opportunities annually, and remove about 20,000 pounds of litter, with further growth expected.
