A CARET Case Study

How a Law Firm Went From 100% Paper to Practically Paperless, Painlessly

Miami Legal Group, a Miami-based law firm founded in 2011 that focuses on personal injury (with immigration, family law, and wills & trusts practices), faced a 100% paper-based workflow—paper intake sheets, paper notes, paper phone messages and a paper Rolodex—causing slow conflict checks, error-prone correspondence, and time wasted tracking files. Seeking a turnkey practice-management and billing solution that supported mobile intake, the firm selected CARET to implement a practice-management system (Amicus Attorney) and to modernize intake, document assembly, and conflict/billing workflows.

CARET worked with the firm (and a channel partner for customization and training) to migrate roughly 250–300 active files in about three weeks, build 50–60 custom intake fields, automate document assembly and email/linking, and roll out iPad-enabled intake and task lists. The result: Miami Legal Group is effectively paperless for active matters, can generate letters in seconds, and staff collaboration and case visibility are instant—saving an estimated 15–20 hours per week across the firm and enabling more regular client outreach and faster case handling.
