Case Study: Big Kid Science helps users find totality with Germinate’s Totality app

Big Kid Science launches a 4.5-star Totality app with Germinate

Germinate partnered with Big Kid Science to develop the Totality app, a tool designed to make solar eclipses accessible. The primary challenges were creating a user-friendly yet accurate experience that could handle complex, event-specific astronomical calculations and manage costly spikes in mapping and geolocation data usage during eclipse events.

Germinate developed the solution using Flutter for rapid multi-platform development, implemented a modular approach for data updates, and utilized human-centered design. The resulting app has been downloaded thousands of times, achieves a 4.5-star rating, and receives App-store topping usage during events, providing a valuable resource for scientists and enthusiasts.
