Wolverine Worldwide teams up with GEP to build indirect procurement capabilities Refreshing Clarity on Procurement Technology

Wolverine Worldwide, a Rockford, Michigan–based designer, manufacturer and marketer of casual, outdoor and work footwear and apparel (12 global brands and about $1.4B in revenue), faced limited enterprise-wide spend visibility and no dedicated indirect procurement program. Brand-level autonomy had masked opportunities to consolidate indirect spend and capture economies of scale, creating a clear working-capital and savings challenge.

GEP launched a comprehensive indirect procurement program—combining procurement consulting, SaaS technology, on-site/offshore resources and strict TCO audits—starting with an air-freight pilot that delivered over 14% savings in three months. The multi-year engagement has since sourced more than 80% of Wolverine’s indirect spend and generated millions in savings, with ongoing efforts to unlock further scale and value.
