A GEP Case Study
A Fortune 200 paper and packaging firm with global operations faced a fragmented supply base for rental equipment after several acquisitions and divestitures, with less than half of rental spend covered by the corporate contract. The company needed a strategic sourcing review to consolidate suppliers, expand contract coverage and drive cost savings.
GEP surveyed the top 20 facilities, collected data from suppliers and sites, defined five rental sub‑categories, issued an RFP (evaluating niche and one‑stop suppliers) and led face‑to‑face negotiations. The effort identified $2.9M in savings (30% of spend), including $1M in Total Cost of Ownership improvements, achieved through consolidation, pricing conformity and demand/process optimization.
