A GEP Case Study
A $2 billion‑plus advanced solar technology and distributed power systems company faced fragmented, multi‑entity logistics across its global supply chain and lacked a central control‑tower to coordinate vendors and manage lead times. Its goals were to cut average logistics spend per project by ~25% and establish end‑to‑end visibility from order to final‑mile delivery.
GEP deployed logistics experts, ran a 16‑supplier RFP and helped the client appoint a single, full‑service 3PL with a control‑tower, EDI/IT integration, data analytics and uniform reporting. The program delivered about $5.5 million in savings on a $25 million logistics estimate, fixed annual rates and extended payment terms, improved lead‑time control (avoiding demurrage and port storage), and provided dashboards and automatic alerts that increased supply‑chain visibility and customer satisfaction.
