A GEP Case Study
A leading U.S. electric and gas utility—with 5,500 MW generation capacity, transmission and distribution across 20,000 square miles, and more than 800,000 retail customers—was hampered by fragmented, largely manual procurement processes. Limited cross-functional visibility, weak technology and no standardized workflows left sourcing, supplier and contract management and procure-to-pay (P2P) inefficient and hard to govern.
The company deployed GEP SMART, integrating the cloud-native source-to-pay platform with its ERP and enabling EDI/web supplier connections to automate sourcing, supplier and contract management and real-time data exchange. Outcomes included 2,000+ suppliers onboarded, over $500M in purchase orders processed, roughly 50 RFPs initiated monthly, streamlined P2P, faster decision-making, improved transparency and higher productivity.
