A GEP Case Study
The client, a pioneer in India’s city gas distribution (CGD) sector and the first private supplier of PNG and CNG, faced supplier-retention challenges as deregulation spurred rapid expansion across CGD players. Low volumes and reactive procurement practices amid a tightening supplier market threatened continuity and drove the company to seek category-management expertise.
GEP implemented category-management best practices across a few high-spend materials and services categories, conducted an opportunity assessment, and developed a supplier-landscape assessment framework and improved sourcing, tendering and TCO tools. Supplier selection decisions improved, source-to-pay cycle times fell, contractor rationalization was enabled (from nine to three), and the changes delivered an additional 3% savings.
