GEP Helps U.S. Federal Government Department Identify Savings Opportunities and Streamline Acquisition Process

GEP partnered with a U.S. federal government department that was acquiring $47 billion annually in knowledge-based services through highly fragmented processes, which created limited visibility, weak accountability and inconsistent compliance with federal sourcing initiatives. The client engaged GEP to assess the portfolio, improve governance and identify cost-saving opportunities.

GEP conducted a process assessment (interviewing 30 stakeholders and mapping acquisition flows across six agencies), a portfolio spend analysis focused on engineering and program management services, and an evaluation of Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) alignment. The team delivered policy and procedural recommendations to streamline requirements, contracting and administration, increased spend visibility and accountability, and identified 10–20% savings opportunities in subcategories by uncovering uncompetitive and improperly structured multi‑million dollar contracts.
