Petrobras, one of Geovariances’ long-time partners, needed a geostatistical tool to support reservoir characterization across many stages of its workflow, from exploratory data analysis and time-to-depth conversion to facies and petrophysical modeling. The company used Geovariances’ Isatis software for production development work, and also as an in-house training platform for geoscientists and reservoir engineers.

With Isatis, Geovariances helped Petrobras model complex horizons, build high-quality NTG maps, incorporate 4D seismic into geological models, and run uncertainty analysis through permeability realizations. The results included faster implementation of requested features, strong consultant support, and more than 100 Petrobras geoscientists and reservoir engineers trained over four years, with Petrobras describing Isatis as a unique, up-to-date package containing the latest geostatistical algorithms.
