A Geovariances Case Study
Votorantim Metais, a major zinc and nickel producer in Brazil and Latin America, needed a user-friendly geostatistical software package to handle very large databases and block models spanning large areas. The company was looking for a tool that could deliver accurate analysis quickly and work smoothly with its existing mining software.
Geovariances’ ISATIS was adopted to support geostatistical analysis, variogram modeling, kriging, simulations, and 3D visualization. Votorantim Metais reported major gains in speed and efficiency, including ordinary kriging being up to 50x faster on a block model with more than 250 million blocks, while the multicore and 64-bit features enabled faster risk analysis and high-resolution 3D viewing.
