Tauw France, an independent environmental consultancy within the Dutch Tauw group, needed a more reliable way to assess contaminated sites and support remediation decisions. The firm worked with Geovariances and its Kartotrak.one software to improve visualization of environmental data and geostatistical modeling, because expert judgment and simple 2D interpolation were leading to skewed estimates of contaminated volumes and risks.

Using Geovariances’ Kartotrak.one, Tauw France integrated data from multiple assessment phases, built 3D contamination models, delineated hot spots, and estimated treatment volumes, contaminant mass, and excavation constraints for remediation plans. The solution strengthened conceptual site models, supported better cost-benefit decisions, and helped prepare works more accurately; in one project, estimated and actual volumes sent to treatment facilities differed by only 10–15% despite unforeseen tar detected during construction.
