A Geovariances Case Study
Dekra Industrial France, part of Dekra group, needed a more rigorous way to diagnose and assess polluted sites and to produce contamination maps that could be clearly justified to clients and regulators. To replace simple interpolation methods and empirical calculations, the company turned to Geovariances and its Kartotrak software for geostatistical analysis.
Using Kartotrak, Geovariances helped Dekra compile and clean data, generate kriging-based contamination and probability maps, quantify polluted volumes with associated uncertainties, and display results in 2D and 3D. The solution improved identification of hotspots and under-sampled areas, helped control remediation budget risk by attaching uncertainty to volume estimates, strengthened decision-making with scientifically defensible results, and made communication with clients easier through clearer visualizations.
